Long-term Care Ombudsman Program

Provides systems-level advocacy to assure that the needs of long-term care residents are fully represented. Represents the interests of residents before governmental agencies and seek administrative, legal, and other remedies to protect the health, safety, welfare, and rights of residents.

Social services: Provides investigation, risk assessment, referral to other DSHS programs, e.g. In-Home care programs or placement services. Assists with locating medical care, legal services and other community resources. Services are voluntary and require client consent.

  • Relatives and friends of residents in long-term care facilities,
  • Administrators and employees of Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities, Adult Family Homes and Veterans’ Homes,
  • Any group or individual concerned about the welfare of residents of long-term care facilities,
  • The community-at-large.
