Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, and is the nation’s largest network for volunteers age 55 and over. For Kitsap County, volunteer sites are located in Bremerton, Silverdale, Port Orchard and North Kitsap County.
Volunteer opportunities through RSVP:
Nutrition: Pierce and Kitsap Counties host a variety of ways to help make sure that no one goes hungry. Local food banks, Meals on Wheels programs and congregate meal sites improve access to food.
Mentoring/Tutoring: Share your love of reading with children, and inspire them to read more! There are volunteer positions available in local schools for people willing to help children and teens succeed in school, including helping with math, computer labs and other scholastic/learning activities.
Adult Literacy: By working with the Kitsap Center for Adult Education, you provide increased economic opportunities to adults through tutoring in English, for the GED and with basic reading and math skills for everyday life.
Sharing History: Kitsap County has a rich historical heritage. Help others learn more about our past by becoming a volunteer at one of our local museums.
Medical: Hospitals and health centers offer volunteer opportunities that include: working in the gift shop; being a greeter, patient liaison or monitor; performing a variety of tasks; and providing support to nursing and administrative staff.
Clerical/Office Assistance: Many organizations need a little extra help in the office. You could answer phones, greet visitors; help with the filing; or provide computer skills.
